Summer is winding down here at Boys Farm, but what a great one the boys have had! Everyone just got back from a wonderful week at the Garden City Chapel and Retreat Center where Boys Farm stays every year free of charge. The boys get to enjoy the Carolina Opry, a visit to a water park, putt-putt golf, and of course the beach!
Other fun summer activities the boys have been involved in this summer include Christian camp, swimming lessons, a camping and rafting trip, a day at Carowinds, a "redneck" Olympics here on campus hosted by East Lake Community Church from Irmo, a day at Frankie's FunPark thanks to ISE of Newberry, swimming at the pond, and so much more. Thank you so much for your part in helping create wonderful childhood memories for all of us.
I also also want to share praise for God's provision. Andrew Jennings has accepted the position of Development Director at Boys Far, and he, with his wife and 4 children, will be joining our ministry in September. Andrew and Kristy have been missionaries to at-risk children in Brazil for 12 years, where they started and managed a boys' home for street children. We are very excited to have their passion and experience joining in our efforts here!
Looking ahead, the boys go back to school here in Newberry in just 2 weeks! I am very excited about our strong Academic Program, headed by Jenny Graber. The need is great as many of our boys are usually 1-3 years behind in school performance when they first come to Boys Farm. Jenny has hired several professional tutors, most of which are certified teachers, to provide instruction at our Learning Center. It's always amazing to see the progress taking place in our boys' education and their growth in love for learning. All our boys will need shoes, clothes, school supplies, sports/band equipment and more. We need your help to provide funding for
these needs. Thank you for your faithful prayers and gifts as they will give these boys a great start back to a new school year!
