May 2010 e-newsletter

What a homecoming!  Founders Day was such a fun and eventful day.  Thank you so much for all of your support and joining us for the special occasion; I believe there were over 300 people out here celebrating, which means a lot to each and every one of the boys including the alumni.

Some of the highlights of the day were:  Carl Meynardie received the Service to Children Award for his 50 years of helping Boys Farm.  The Alumni Association presented a generous gift to Boys Farm in memory and honor of the entire Shealy Family.  Scott won the pig catching contest!

I also would like to share with you, on a personal note, the great news of the birth of my youngest son, Michael Bruce, on April 24th!  He and Rebecca are doing very well, praise God.

Please also pray for Jon Wooten, a recent Boys Farm alumnus who had just finished his Saturday work shift here in Newberry and washed his laundry at our house beforeheading back to Greenwood, where he attends college at Lander University.

He fell asleep at the wheel and crashed his truck into a tree.  He broke several ribs and severely damaged his right leg and ankle.  He just got out of surgery last night (but remains in the hospital) and is still in a great deal of pain.  A reminder that life is so fragile.

On an encouraging note, we are already looking ahead to this summer and beginning to plan for events such as going to the beach, Christian summer camps, and other trips and happenings that the boys really enjoy and will help create wonderful childhood memories.

We need your help to make these plans reality. In addition to rising costs, these next three months are a time in which we experience a significant decrease in financial support almost every year.  If you are able, would you consider help making up the difference this year?  We thank God for your support and remain faithful.
